For those registering late (after March 26th at 9am), we will be placing another shirt order on April 9th and will mail out shirts as needed after the race! We have plenty of medals and everyone (even late registrants) will get a shirt.
What if you can't get to the race on race day? We have no idea how many people will be flooding into Niagara County for the eclipse. If by chance traffic is so crazy that you can't get to the race, we will convert your race entry to virtual and offer a couple of alternate packet pickup locations the week after the race.
On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.
As you can see on the map below, Buffalo, NY will be a spectacular place to view the eclipse. People will be traveling from across the globe for this once in a lifetime experience. The Buffalo Outer Harbor will be planning events throughout the day leading up the eclipse. CLICK HERE to visit their official website.
There will be food trucks, music, a designated kids zone, local astonomers to answer your questions and share insight, free viewing glasses (while supplies last), and more! Safety is the number one priority when viewing a total solar eclipse. Be sure you're familiar with when you need to wear specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing.
After the eclipse occurs and planned events at the Outer Harbor wind down, we will be gearing up for a 1 mile fun walk (non-timed event) at 5pm and our big 5K run at 6pm. The event will be limited to 300 total participants and we expect it to sell out. All participants will receive a beautiful die cast commemorative keepsake medallion we are having custom made for the event, custom race bib, along with a Total Eclipse Run t-shirt (Register my March 25th for guaranteed shirt on race day).

START/FINISH
The event will take place at Lakeside Lawn on the Buffalo Outer Harbor. Since Wilkeson Point will be closed to the public this year, we had a brand new course USATF certified course designed using park pathways (CLICK HERE to view the course). There will be one water station located along the course and bottled water will be provided to all participants at the finish line. The 1 Mile (non-timed) Fun Walk will start at 5pm and the 5K run will start at 6pm.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open right up until race day or until sold out. Packet pickup will take place at Lakeside Lawn Park from 2pm until the start of each race. Register by March 25th for guaranteed event shirt in your requested size on race day. If you register late (after March 25th) we will place an additional shirt order the day after the race and mail them out so that everyone gets a shirt!

*Virtual registration fee includes shipping of t-shirt and keepsake medallion to your address in the Continental USA. If you register by March 25th, we will mail out your swag on April 1st so you receive it prior to the actual Solar Eclipse on April 8th! Late registrants (after March 25th) will receive their swag after the race date.
Virtual Registration Option
Can't make the race... Participate virtually! Simply sign up for the Virtual Race option and you get to choose the location and time to get out on your own and run/walk your 5K during the month of April. Feel free to use the FREE IYR Virtual App to track and score your run. You will also be able to manually enter your finish time directly to the IYR Results Page starting on 4/1/24 and ending on 5/1/24. We will automatically mail out your event shirt and keepsake medallion (Continental USA only for shipping).
POST RACE CELEBRATION
The post race celebration and awards ceremony will take place after the race. Participants will enjoy light snacks along with bottled water, music, and more. There are numerous activites being planned at the Outer Harbor throughout the day and additional information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING PARKING AT THE OUTER HARBOR!
PARKING
This is expected to be an extremely busy day for travel in Western New York so arrive early, partake in the activities being planned at the Outer Harbor, and be sure to allow enough time to get there on time. We also encourage runners to travel together with friends if possible. We are not responsible if you arrive late due to traffic delays, etc.
About 2-3 days before the race, registered participants will be emailed a parking pass for the outer harbor with directions to the reserved parking section. PLEASE try and ride share with a friend when possible.
AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
Trophies will be presented to the top 3 overall male and female 5K runners. Age group winners will also be announced and presented with a decal to go on the back of your custom medallion if you wish. All 5K runners can print custom certificates and view finish line photos from the results page after the race.
14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and older.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, shelter-in-place, limit on social gatherings, etc), we want runners to know up front that we reserve the right to reschedule the event OR convert this to a virtual 5K race. There will be no refunds.
TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Professional timing and finish line services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
